13 Soldiers, 11 Police Officers Killed In Fresk Boko Haram Attack

Fresh Boko Haram attacks on a security base in Buni Yadi, headquatres of Gujba Local Government Area of Yobe State has left 24 security officials dead.

Those killed in the Tuesday attack include 13 soldiers and 11 police officers.

The insurgents, who according to sources, started the massive attack on the town from 5pm, also set all security and military formations in the town ablaze.

 In the attack that was on till about 7.30pm, the insurgents were said to have overpowered the security and military operatives in the area. Residents of the town equally told journalists on the telephone on Tuesdaythat the insurgents also set on fire the area court and district head residence and office and few residential quarters.Some security personnel, who did not want their names in print, told journalists on the telephone that 14 corpses of soldiers and 11 corpses of  policemen were conveyed to Damaturu Specialist Hospital mortuary.

Residents of the town say that the attackers came in ten Hilux vans, an armoured tank, and several motorcycles, the BBC Hausa service reports.

Reports say that the insurgents on storming the area, told the residents to go back home and stay indoors as their target were the security personnel in the town.

The insurgents in their attack also stormed a local government secretariat, burning most of the vehicles inside the complex.
