Mr Ayodele Fayose, PDP candidate in June 21 governorship election in Ekiti, on Thursday, led a protest in Ado Ekiti, against the bombing and killings of innocent Nigerians in Jos,.

The former governor, led other party chieftains, including the former deputy governor during his tenure, Mrs. Biodun Olujimi, in the protest.

Fayose warned the political class against bringing down the country because of power, saying nothing would distract President Jonathan from developing the nation.

Declaring the action of Boko Haram as extreme show of wickedness, Fayose, advised the opposition to stop making politics out of a carnage that has brought anguish to Nigerians.

He said President Jonathan and other national leaders decided to cancel the Presidential campaign in his support as a mark of respect for those killed by terrorists.

“The reason for the protest is to identify with the victims of the Jos bomb blasts. We have to suspend our campaign and we chose to identify with them by this walk.

“We identify with the families of the dead; we therefore, suspend our campaigns because of them.

“We believe in this country and in the ability of the president to move this country forward.

“We call on all those who are distracting the president and his team for political gains to desist from such because of these innocent people.

“There must be a president at any given time; anybody who feels he has an axe to grind with Jonathan should wait for 2015.”

He said the president deserved all the support and encouragement to move the nation forward.

Fayose called for continuous prayers to the families of the victims and urged Nigerians to contue to stand against injustice and violence.
