Less than 24 hours to the endorsement of Jonathan for a second term in office by the Oba of Benin, another South-South group led by Delta State Elders, Leaders and Stakeholders Forum backs the President ahead of the February 14 election.
The group founded by Chief Edwin Kiagbodo Clark, has endorsed for second term because there are no candidates better than the President, the group said.
In a vote of confidence passed by its Chairman, Chief Godwin Ogbetuo, said Jonathan for close to three and a half years, has performed better than his predecessors who stayed in office for eight years but had nothing to show for it.
The group argued that in accordance to Nigerian Constitution, Jonathan is fully qualified to contest for second term. The resolution by the group was made public in a meeting held in Warri, Delta State, at the weekend.
They however warned its members not to support a former Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Elder Godsday Orubebe, in his aspiration to become Delta State governor in 2015 for engaging Clark in political battle.
According to the group, Orubebe could not fight Clark and expect them to support him in his quest to occupy the state house at Asaba come 2015.
