Belgian, Kevin De Bruyne has been out-of-favour ever since he joined Chelsea Football Club after being loaned out to Werder Bremen the previous season. De Bruyne’s World Cup hopes were already being extinguished as he kept on warming the bench match after match after returning to Chelsea this season.
Chelsea FC have now confirmed that the 22-year-old has joined Wolfsburg for an undisclosed fee. A statement on the club’s website read:
“Kevin De Bruyne has today completed a move to Wolfsburg. The Belgian joins the Bundesliga club having made five starts for Chelsea, with a further four appearances as a substitute.”
De Bruyne has signed for a five-and-a-half-year contract with the Germans. Yahoo! Eurosport reports that De Bruyne had this to say concerning his transfer,
“For me it was clear from the start that Wolfsburg would be the first people to talk to when Chelsea said I could go.”
“I am very pleased that my transfer has come about. I want to play my part in ensuring we continue to be successful and return to international business (in European competitions).”
Chelsea have already signed Nemanja Matic to make their already rich midfield even more solid. The deal which takes De Bruyne to Wolfsburg however is thought to be around the 17million pounds mark
